By this time, Hercules has become the toast of Greece, and he believes himself a true hero, He is greatly upset when Zeus tells him that his celebrity status is not enough to regain his immortality, as being famous isn't the same as being a hero, and to "look into his heart". But Hercules dispatches every monster Hades sends against him. Unbeknownst to Herc, Meg is working for Hades (albeit unwillingly), and relates the events to the Lord of the Underworld, by which he learns that Hercules is still alive and so sends a variety of monsters to kill Hercules. On his way he saves Megara from Nessus, a centaur acting as river guardian. When Hercules has reached adulthood and has passed his training, he sets off with Philoctetes to become a Hero in Thebes. He goes to see Philoctetes, a trainer of heroes who originally says he will not train Hercules, but changes his mind after Zeus zaps him with a bolt of lightning. He explains that the only way Hercules can rejoin his parents on Mount Olympus is to prove himself a "true hero", and thus, regain his godhood. While in the temple, Zeus embodies his own statue, and reveals Hercules's origin. Hercules sets off to find his place in the world, and goes to the Temple of Zeus for guidance. His foster parents decide to finally come clean to him about the circumstances of his adoption, showing him a medallion they find that bears the symbol of the gods (Zeus's lightning bolt). Hercules grows into a strong but clumsy teenage boy who cannot control his godly strength, causing havoc and alienating those around him. Because Herc is now mortal, however, they are unable to take him back to Olympus. Too late, Zeus and the other gods discover the kidnapping. Amphitryon and Alcmene adopt the child, considering his arrival a gift from the gods since they are themselves childless. Pain and Panic discover that because he did not drink the last drop he has retained his godly strength (although Hercule's strength appears to be exceptional even for a God as no other God is seen performing anything close to his feats of strength) and they are beaten back. Knowing that as a god, Hercules is immortal and invulnerable, Hades sends his two lackeys, Pain and Panic, to kidnap Hercules and turn him mortal by means of a magic potion, but the final drop falls wasted on the ground. Hades wants to take control of Mount Olympus and the world along with all of creation, and he sees that if Hercules chooses to fight when he is older, his plans will be ruined. However, one god is not happy about the new arrival: Hercules' evil uncle Hades. Hercules was born on Mount Olympus with all the powers of a god, and his parents were Zeus and Hera (the King and Queen of all the gods, thus making him a god prince), who has been re-imagined as a loving mother instead of a spiteful stepmother. He is based on the mythical character Hercules, although some aspects of his life differ greatly from the original legend. #VOICE OF HADES HERCULES DISNEY TV#Hercules (also known as Heracles) is the main protagonist of the film and the TV series. I love my life.”Īnd guess what happened? My entire mood changed! As soon as I changed my thoughts, my feelings about the situation shifted and I felt much more calm and positive. I’ve worked so hard this year, and I really deserve it. I’m looking forward to treating myself and soaking in the retreat experience this weekend. This will be a special time for them to bond. I’m so lucky that my daughter has an awesome dad to take care of her while I’m gone. I am so fortunate to be able to go away on this retreat for the weekend and get some much needed time for myself. So, on the spot, I made the decision to change my thoughts. I instantly realized that this thought was not true, because in fact, I really LOVE my life and feel so fortunate with the many blessings I’ve been given. I was really getting myself worked up! I caught myself subconsciously saying these things to myself over and over again and then I heard myself say “I hate my life.” Seriously?!? I was telling myself that I hate my life because I was getting myself so worked up over going on an incredible retreat that I knew was going to be so good for me on so many levels! That’s when I immediately decided to shift this negative spiral. Why am I doing this?”Īnd so on, and so on. What was I thinking going on this retreat? I’m so stressed out. I’ve put her to bed every single night since she was born. I’m so sad about leaving June for the entire weekend. My anxiety level was high, and as I drove around from place to place, I noticed my negative thoughts getting the best of me: #NEGATIVE NANCY POSITIVE PATTY HOW TO#On Wednesday, as I was preparing everything to leave for the retreat, I was rushing around completing last minute errands, thinking of the countless things I had to do before I left, and worrying about how to ensure that my baby would be okay without me. Add that to the fact that I was going to a new place with new people, and didn’t really know what to expect, and a cycle of negativity was born… It was my first time leaving my daughter overnight since she was born. Our thoughts and feelings make up our life experience, so it makes sense that we should work on trying to keep our thoughts positive!Īs you read this, I am away on a weekend retreat having an amazing time. The way that we think about any given situation influences our feelings about it. You'll be surprised what you find.Do you want to know the quickest way to get out of a negative spiral? Change your thoughts! We’ve all heard the quote that our thoughts determine our reality, and it’s true. #NEGATIVE NANCY POSITIVE PATTY PATCH#Next time you are going through a rough patch and are feeling a bit like a "negative Nancy", try looking on the brighter side of things. I learned from each one and despite those trials, I made sure that each day was filled with smiles, laughter, and love." But I got through them and made the best of them. When I am an old grandma sitting in my rocking chair on my front porch, I want to look back on my life and say, "Yea, I went through some hard times. I believe that each day is a blessing and that we should make each one count for something. No matter what you are going through, things can always be worse. Life is precious gift and to lead a life with a negative mind will only leave you with a negative life. And it taught me more about how to live a positive life. As I look back on it now, I look at it with a positive attitude because I grew and I learned from that experience. But I began to think that maybe I was going through this journey for SOME reason. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I am not going to lie, the thought "Why me?" did cross my mind in the early days after my diagnosis. |
